Welcome to my World as a New Registrar and Grad Student!

My life has taken a bit of a turn over the last year and a half. I was an Assistant Registrar and felt pretty comfortable in my job and what I did every day. I liked learning new things to make improvements in the Registrar's Office and I always liked a new project to tackle. I had one boss for all of those 17 years. In 2020 he decided it was time to retire. I was ready to take over! In one sense, I had been training for the position of Registrar for a long time. I thought I knew what I was doing and was excited for the challenge of taking on the "boss" role.

There was a long transition period where I learned as much as I could from my boss before he transitioned to retirement. It started slowly with a lot of observations and questions. Then it ramped up as he tried to teach me everything he thought I would need to know.

Graduate Studies

To be more prepared to take on the role of Registrar, it was decided that I should earn a Master's degree so I started on the journey as a graduate student to learn about leadership and education. I was excited! I love learning new things. I was also a bit apprehensive. How could I do a new job, train a new assistant, and be a grad school student? Reality began to set in. Was I really ready for this change? Could I handle it? I had a bit of sadness because everything was changing but I was excited too!

Join Me on the Journey

I will use this blog to document the rest of my journey as a grad school student - sharing the joys and the struggles. Alongside studying, there is the challenge of being a new Registrar and having a new assistant. This is my life, and I invite you to follow me on this journey.
